Washington Street Maintenance Assessment District
The Washington St. Maintenance Assessment District (WSMAD) was formed in 1993 to maintain the medians and public right of way in the following areas: Washington St. from Albatross to Hawk St. and Goldfinch St. (extending one block north and south of Washington St.). The WSMAD is primarily funded by assessments on approximately 2,200 properties in the Mission Hills area. The assessments which are added to the property tax are currently $20.90 per year.
The WSMAD is administered by the City of San Diego. In 2008 the Mission Hills Town Council established an advisory committee to oversee the expenditure of funds. Since the establishment of this committee, the following improvements have been made in the district: additon of benches and trash cans; maintenance of the hanging baskets; maintenance of planter boxes; and miscellaneous landscaping improvements.
More information on the Committee can be found in this
